Fire Department Acquires New Engine and Ambulance

The Village of Lombard has purchased a new fire engine and ambulance that supports the Fire Department’s commitment to providing community members with the highest level of service.

The new 2021 Pierce Enforcer Pumper Fire Engine was placed in service at Fire Station 44, 2020 S. Highland Ave., on Oct. 30, 2021. The 2021 Horton Ambulance will be placed in service at Fire Station 45, 50 E. St. Charles Rd on Nov. 5, 2021. The Fire Department’s engine and ambulance committees made design changes to each of these vehicles that better suit the operational needs of the fire department.

“Our department welcomes these new vehicles that will enable our firefighter/paramedics to provide the best fire and emergency services for our community,” said Fire Chief Rick Sander. “We are extremely grateful for the continued support of our Village President, Board of Trustees, and residents.”

Time to Change your Clocks and Smoke Alarm Batteries

The Lombard Fire Department reminds residents to change the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms when they set the clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 7, 2021.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, roughly three out of five fire deaths happened in homes with no smoke alarms or smoke alarms that were not working. Help keep your home and loved ones safe, make sure all smoke alarms have working batteries. Learn more.

Lombard's Free Leaf Collection Program is Underway

The Village's free fall leaf pick-up program began this week and will run through Friday, Dec. 10. During this time, residential property owners may place an unlimited amount of paper bags filled with only leaves at their curb for free pick up on their regular collection day.

Although the free pick-up ends Dec. 10, the general Yard Waste Program ends Dec. 17. If bags of leaves are put out after Dec.10, they will require a yard waste sticker.
