2022 Water and Sewer Rates Beginning January 1, 2022, the Village of Lombard's water rate will be $9.24, and the sewer rate will be $6.86 per 1,000 gallons of water used for customers inside the village limits. This cost reflects a $0.40 increase per 1,000 gallons of water, compared to 2021.
The average Lombard home uses 5,000 gallons of water each month, which equates to a price increase of $2.00 per month, or $24 for the year. The Village receives its water from the City of Chicago and the DuPage Water Commission, and discharges sanitary flows to the Glenbard Wastewater Authority. As they raise their rates, the Village must also increase its rates in order to purchase wholesale water, and to fund operating expenses and capital improvements.
Additionally, the Village’s monthly capital fee will increase from $5.25 to $5.50. This capital fee was implemented in 2020. This fee will help to fix and replace aged infrastructure, which will require approximately $41,162,500 for sewer improvements $19,130,618 for water system improvements.
