To help minimize the risk of theft associated with automobile break-ins: - Do not leave valuables such as cell phones, wallets, purses, cash or change, laptops, cameras, etc., in your car.
- Ensure that windows have been rolled all the way up and that your sunroof is securely closed.
- Always lock your car doors and never leave your keys in your vehicle.
- Be sure to conceal any garage door openers, as these devices allow entrance into your home and can lead to home break-ins.
- Do not leave items out including personal information such as checks, bank statements or tax information
- Avoid moving important items to your trunk while in public view.
- Turn on exterior lighting including porch, garage and driveway lights.

New Equipment Assists Lombard Fire Department in Saving LivesOn December 12, 2021, the Lombard Fire Department received a call regarding a 54-year-old male resident in cardiac arrest. With assistance from the dispatcher, the caller began CPR while crews were dispatched to the home. Firefighters/Paramedics arrived within 2 minutes of receiving the call and took over life-saving efforts.
The patient was given CPR with the Fire Department’s newly acquired AutoPulse® Resuscitation System, an automated and portable CPR device, which provides high-quality, uninterrupted CPR for patients experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. As part of additional life-saving efforts, paramedics administered medications, used an automated external defibrillator (AED) and provided airway management to the patient. The patient regained a heartbeat following two cycles of CPR and defibrillation. As a result of these efforts, the patient was transported to the hospital breathing and with a pulse. A short four days after experiencing cardiac arrest, the patient was discharged from the hospital—just in time for the holidays.

COVID-19 Update from DuPage County Health Department COVID-19 activity remains at very high levels in DuPage County and continues to rise with over 642 new cases being reported on average each day and 233 individuals hospitalized in the six hospitals in the county today. The 7-day rolling average of new cases reported each day and the number of hospitalizations has approximately doubled since Thanksgiving. Vaccination is crucial to protect yourself from serious illness or death, to reduce transmission of COVID-19, and to prevent the emergence of new variants.
“As hospitalizations related to COVID-19 remain at a high level here in DuPage County, we are concerned about the next few weeks as COVID-19 cases continue to rise,” said Karen Ayala, DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) Executive Director. “We have the tools to stop the spread of these highly contagious variants. We’re encouraging everyone to use these tools including vaccinations, and booster shots, wearing a high-quality mask consistently when indoors around those you don’t live with, getting tested when you have symptoms or before you gather indoors with others, and increasing the flow of fresh air in indoor spaces to keep virus particles from accumulating inside are essential. Each of these tools provides an extra layer of protection.”
