Police Recognize Distracted Driving Awareness Month in April
April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month across the nation, and the Lombard Police Department is urging drivers to drop their phones and focus on the road with a not-so-subtle reminder: “Phone in One Hand. Ticket in the Other.”
“It has become all too common to see people driving down the road while looking at their phones,” said Traffic Safety Unit Officer Dan Herrera. “People know texting and driving is both dangerous and illegal, but they do it anyway, putting themselves and others at risk. During April, drivers will see increased law enforcement efforts as officers stop and ticket anyone who texts or uses their cell phones while driving.”
