Join Lombard's 2022 Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 30th

The Village of Lombard will hold its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 30, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the Sunken Garden in Common Park (just east of the Grace St. and Maple St. intersection). All community members are invited to help honor the men and women who served in our country’s military as well as those who gave their lives for our freedoms.

Attendees and nearby residents are reminded that the ceremony will include a cannon fire provided by Stanford’s Battery Civil War Cannon, a controlled gun salute from the Lilac VFW Post 5815, and a wreath-laying ceremony. 

Village Offices Closed on Memorial Day 

Lombard Village Offices will be closed on Monday, May 30, 2022, in honor of Memorial Day. Normal business hours for the Village Hall and Village Departments will resume on Tuesday, May 31.  

Additionally, there will be no recycling and garbage collection on Monday, May 30, 2022. Collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. For example, Monday pickups will occur on Tuesday; Tuesday pickups will occur on Wednesday; etc. The last pickup of the week will be on Saturday, June 4, 2022.

Click It Or Ticket: Memorial Day Weekend

Through Memorial Day weekend, the Lombard Police Department is stepping up enforcement to remind motorists to “Click It or Ticket.” Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer, a popular time for traveling to visit family and friends. 

The Lombard Police Department will conduct a roadside safety checkpoint on Roosevelt Road during the evening hours of Friday, May 27th in an effort to deter impaired drivers and keep roads safe. 

Whether you are traveling down the block or across the country, make sure you drive sober and buckle up every trip - every time. 

Last Call: "There’s No Place Like Lombard” Photo Contest Submission Due May 29

Do you have a beautiful photo of people, children or pets enjoying Lilacia Park, the Lilac Time Parade, or a favorite Lombard location? Enter your photo(s) and get the chance to win a $100, $50, or $25 gift card! 

The Village of Lombard is hosting its Annual Lilac Time Photo Contest through May 29th. This year’s contest encourages photographers to submit their photos of people, children and pets enjoying their favorite Lombard locations during Lilac Time. 

Swearing-In Ceremony Held for Lombard Police and Fire Departments

On Thursday, May 19, 2022, the Lombard Police and Fire Departments held swearing-in ceremonies that included promotions and new hires. Congratulations to all! 

Police Department

• Tom Balsitis was sworn in as a Police Sergeant
• Jashuwa Turbe and Cesar Castellanos were sworn in as new Police Officers

• Tim Gorvett and Jack Shafer were sworn in as Fire Lieutenants 
• Brandon Gatto, Tyler Gunn, Ryan Carlson, and Dalton Huftel were sworn in as new Firefighters/Paramedics

DuPage County COVID-19 Testing Site Updates 

DuPage County Health Department announced changes regarding the COVID-19 testing sites at the Odeum Expo Center in Villa Park and the DuPage County Fairgrounds. 

The last day of COVID-19 testing at the Odeum will be Friday, May 27, 2022. 

Starting on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, testing at the DuPage County Fairgrounds will be relocated to the Fairgrounds parking lot outside building 1.
