Lombard Police Participates in Speed Awareness Day EnforcementOn July 27th, the Lombard Police Department participated in a multi-state Speed Awareness Day enforcement campaign.
This campaign is an effort to address the drastic increase in speed and hazardous moving violations that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. Speeding is involved in approximately one-third of all motor vehicle fatalities nationwide. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported traffic deaths grew by 10.5% to 42,915 last year. This represents the highest number of fatalities since 2005 and the highest annual percentage increase in the recorded history of data in the Fatality Analysis Reporting System.

DCHD Update: Additional Cases of Monkeypox Identified in DuPage CountyThe DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) has identified 4 additional cases of monkeypox in recent days, bringing the total number of cases in DuPage County to 5.
Monkeypox is a rare but potentially serious disease caused by infection with the monkeypox virus. Most people who contract monkeypox will develop a rash, and some will develop flu-like symptoms, including fever, headache, muscle aches and backache, sore throat, cough, swollen lymph nodes, chills, or exhaustion.
Anyone with a new or unexplained rash or a rash that looks like monkeypox should talk with their healthcare provider, even if they don’t think they had contact with someone who has monkeypox.

Driver’s License & ID Card Expiration Dates Extended until December 1stThe Illinois Secretary of State announced that expiration dates for driver’s licenses, ID cards and learner’s permits are being extended until December 1, 2022.
The previous extension was set to end on July 31, 2022. As a result, expired driver’s licenses, ID cards and learner’s permits will remain valid until December 1, 2022, so customers do not need to rush into Driver Services facilities. This extension does not apply to commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) and CDL learner’s permits.

CTA & Metra Offer Convenient, Affordable Way to LollapaloozaCTA and Metra are adding extra service and expanded capacity to serve the tens of thousands of music fans headed to Grant Park for the four-day Lollapalooza 2022.
Starting Thursday, July 28 and running through Sunday, July 31, Metra will provide extra trains, expand passenger capacity and adjust schedules on most lines to accommodate the increase in ridership anticipated during the festival. CTA will add service on the Red, Blue and Brown lines, Yellow Line service will be extended until midnight each night, and various bus routes will provide bus connections between Metra’s Chicago Union Station or Ogilvie Transportation Center and Grant Park.
