Winter Parking RemindersAs the holiday season continues and loved ones come into town, the Village of Lombard asks residents to be mindful of street parking rules. Parking on Village of Lombard streets is not allowed after 1” of snowfall. If more than 1” of snowfall is experienced, residents and visitors are responsible for removing their vehicles from the street to create a clear passage for snowplows. This helps our Public Works crews work safely and efficiently to keep our streets clear of snow and ice. Overnight ParkingOvernight on-street parking between 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. is not allowed in Lombard, per Village ordinance. However, during non-snow conditions, residents may request a temporary exemption of overnight parking at www.frontlinepss.com/lombard, with a maximum allowance of 4 days per month. If extended time is needed for long-term guests or home construction projects, residents may call (630) 873-4400 and speak to Police Administration staff. Please note that overnight requests will not be granted if the current weather conditions include a 1” snowfall.

Prevent Freezing PipesAs extremely cold temperatures move across our area, Lombard Public Works is reminding residents of some helpful tips to decrease the potential for frozen pipes, water damage and costly repairs. - Shut outside vents in crawl spaces.
- Open cabinet doors & closet doors where there are water pipes.
- Allow a trickle of water to run from your faucets to maintain flow through pipes near exterior walls.
- Know where the “shut-off” valves are in your home.
- If a leak occurs, turn off the water at the main shut-off.
- If a pipe should freeze, use a space heater or hairdryer to help slowly thaw the pipe. Do not use torches or heat guns.
Following these tips should help ensure a good winter season for you and your pipes!

Holiday Light Recycling and Free Tree Pick-up Light Recycling Through Jan. 17
Old or unwanted holiday lights may be dropped off in a bin at Lombard Public Works, 1051 S. Hammerschmidt Avenue, to be recycled by Elgin Recycling. The light collection will run through January 17th. Lights should be placed in the bin located in front of the building which is accessible 24/7. Remove plastic ornamentals and bags from the wiring to prevent entangling in the processing machinery—similar to curbside recycling. Free Holiday Tree Pick Up Residents may place holiday trees, free of tinsel and decorations, at their curbsides, January 3-13, for free disposal.
