Free Tree Pick-up and Holiday Light Recycling

As you begin to wrap up the holidays, Public Works shares some reminders:

Free Holiday Tree Pick Up Jan. 3 - 13
Residents may place holiday trees, free of tinsel and decorations, at their curbsides, January 3-13, for free disposal.

Light Recycling Through Jan. 16
Drop off any old, broken or unwanted holiday lights in the collection bin outside of Lombard Public Works (1051 S. Hammerschmidt Ave) for free recycling through January 16. Please remove plastic ornamentals and bags from the wiring to prevent entangling in the processing machinery.

Village's Winter Blood Drive: Jan. 10

January is National Blood Donor Appreciation Month and Lombard's winter blood drive is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 10, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Yorktown outside of Von Maur and from 1:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the First Church of Lombard Fellowship Hall, 220 S. Main Street.

All donors will receive a warm beanie as a thank you.

Make that New Year’s resolution – be someone’s hero - safe a life – become a blood donor.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Holiday Enforcement Results

During the Holiday Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement effort, the Lombard Police Department showed zero tolerance for impaired driving, arresting two offenders. The enforcement effort ran from Dec. 16 through Jan. 2, reminding motorists to drive sober and buckle up.

“We can’t stress this enough: Impaired driving is illegal, potentially deadly behavior, and it puts the driver, passengers and all road users at risk,” said Lombard Traffic Safety Unit Officer Dan Herrera. The ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ campaign helps our officers address this problem head-on. If you use any impairing substance, do not get behind the wheel of a vehicle.”

Prevent Thefts with the 9 PM Routine

To help deter thefts, the Lombard Police Department is reminding residents to remove valuables from their vehicles, lock their cars and homes, and turn on exterior lights as part of their 9 p.m. routine every night.

Car burglaries have been on the rise in recent months, with most of these crimes focusing on unlocked cars. The Lombard Police Department is encouraging residents never to leave valuables in cars and never to leave cars unlocked. Ensuring that these steps are taken each night may help decrease the chance of criminals gaining access to vehicles.

Report Potholes and Other Concerns with SeeClickFix

The Village has launched a new online reporting platform called SeeClickFix. This tool allows users to report their concerns directly to the Village by using an online map or smartphone app.

SeeClickFix is an easy way to report non-emergency issues 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Use SeeClick Fix to report concerns such as potholes, street lights, graffiti, sidewalk trip hazards, storm drain issues, code violations, and more. Simply take a photo of the problem (or just enter a brief description), and Village staff will address the issue. You will get an update via email on what is being done to resolve your reported concern.
