Drive Sober this Super Bowl Weekend

As we head into Superbowl weekend, the Lombard Police Department is reminding football fans and partygoers that they will be out in full force to keep our roads safe from impaired drivers. If your Super Bowl celebration involves alcohol or cannabis, plan for a ride home with a sober driver. If you’re hosting the party, take care of the designated drivers. Fans don’t let fans drive drunk.

The enforcement campaign will run from February 10-13, 2023. Follow these simple tips for a safe celebration:

  • Drunk or high, it doesn’t matter. It is never okay to drive impaired.
  • Designate a sober driver or plan to use public transportation or a ride-sharing service to get home safely.
  • If you see an impaired driver on the road, contact law enforcement.
  • Have a friend who is about to drive impaired? Take the keys away and plan to get your friend home safely.
  • Always buckle up!

“No Mow ‘til Mother’s Day” Initiative Launched to Support Pollinators

The Village of Lombard and the Public Works and Environmental Concerns Committee encourage residents to participate in a new “No Mow ‘til Mother’s Day” initiative. The program invites residents to postpone mowing their lawn, or a portion of their lawn, through Mother’s Day to help support the local ecology, specifically the habitats of pollinators and other wildlife.

Lombard residents in single-family homes who wish to participate in the program can sign up on the Village’s website at www.villageoflombard.org/nomow until April 1, 2023. Once registered, residents will receive a lawn sign and be exempt from lawn mowing code enforcement through Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 14, 2023. Regular lawn care code enforcement will resume one week after Mother’s Day and lawn signs will be collected by Village staff.
