Police Announce Super Bowl Enforcement Results

During the Super Bowl enforcement campaign, the Lombard Police Department made three (3) traffic-related arrests and issued 17 citations, including the following: 

• 4 seatbelt citations
• 4 speeding citations
• 3 distracted driving citations (cell phone)
• 6 other citations (moving/non-moving)

The Super Bowl weekend “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” enforcement effort ran from Friday, Feb. 10, through the early morning hours of Monday, Feb. 13. The goal was to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure more people buckle up and follow all traffic safety laws.

Winter Tree Pruning Work 

As a reminder, the Village of Lombard’s winter tree pruning program is underway, and the Village’s tree pruning contractor will be working in the area during the next couple of weeks. Designated areas are bordered by Main St on the west, E Maple St on the south, S 3rd Ave and Westwood Ave on the east and E Pleasant Ln on the north.  

If driving through a work zone, please exercise caution for your safety and that of the workers in the area. 

“No Mow ‘til Mother’s Day” Initiative Launched to Support Pollinators

Residents are encouraged to participate in the new “No Mow ‘til Mother’s Day” initiative. The program invites residents to postpone mowing their lawn, or a portion of their lawn, through Mother’s Day to help support the local ecology, specifically the habitats of pollinators and other wildlife. 

Lombard residents in single-family homes who wish to participate in the program can sign up on the Village’s website at www.villageoflombard.org/nomow until April 1, 2023. Once registered, residents will receive a lawn sign and be exempt from lawn mowing code enforcement through Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 14, 2023. Regular lawn care code enforcement will resume one week after Mother’s Day and lawn signs will be collected by Village staff.
