Grace Street One-Way Traffic Southbound Only 

Beginning Monday, June 5th, Grace Street between Prairie Avenue to Sunset Avenue will temporarily be restricted to one-way southbound traffic only. A detour route will be in place for northbound traffic using St. Charles Road, Main Street, and North Avenue. Please refer to the map below for details. 

The one-way traffic modification is necessary as the contractor will be trenching across the roadway to install new water and sewer services between Prairie Avenue and Pleasant Lane. New fire hydrants, water main, and sanitary sewer will also be installed within the same area. The water and sewer work will be primarily trenchless north of Pleasant Avenue. 

Forestry Department: Tree Care Reminders

Please water the trees! We are experiencing extremely hot and dry weather conditions that stress trees. Homeowners may improve the health of the trees by properly applying water and mulch.

Young trees need 15 to 20 gallons of water per week when there is less than an inch of rain. This may be supplied by running a hose at a very low rate for 15 to 20 minutes through the growing season (April through October). This would amount to less than 600 gallons over the 28-week season, costing about $10 total.

Mulch should be spread low (2-4” deep) and wide around the base of the tree, and not against the trunk. Piling soil and mulch against the tree trunk damages trees by promoting stem-girdling roots, decay and pests that shorten the tree’s life.

Warhol in Lombard

This summer, Lombard is partnering with the Warhol exhibition at the College of DuPage to showcase Warhol-themed special events, public art, and giveaways throughout the Village! 

As part of this partnership, Lombard participated in the DuPage Warhol Pop-Art Challenge and identified four notable faces from Lombard, which were transformed into bright and colorful Warhol-style pop art. The four Lombardians include: 

• Little Orphan Annie 
• Sheldon Peck 
• Daniel Tani 
• Ellen Martin

Lombard's pop art pieces will soon be placed on display at 109. S Main St for public viewing and can also be found inside the Sheldon Peck Homestead at 355 E Parkside Ave and the Lombard Historical Society Carriage House at 23 W Maple St.
