Labor Day Village Reminders
Village offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 5, with normal business hours: Monday - Friday; 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Lobby Walk-In Hours: Monday - Thursday; 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Waste Management Holiday ScheduleWaste Management services will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. If you are scheduled for Monday service, your garbage will be picked up on Tuesday, and so on. The last pickup of the week will be on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over this Labor Day Weekend Did you know one person is killed about every 39 minutes in a drunk-driving crash, totaling more than 13,000 lives lost each year?
Plan ahead this Labor Day holiday, and never drive after consuming alcohol, cannabis, or other drugs. Instead, designate a sober driver, or call a ride service or cab to make sure you, your family and friends get home safely.
The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement campaign is underway and will continue through this Labor Day weekend.

Lombard Police to Assist Glenbard East HS During Evacuation Drill Please be advised that the Lombard Police Department will be assisting Glenbard East High School during a state-mandated offsite evacuation DRILL scheduled this Friday, September 1st.
Although there will be a large police presence in the area, this is only a practice exercise and not an actual emergency. As part of the drill, students will be crossing Main Street and drivers are asked to slow down and exercise caution while passing through the area.

Nominate a Senior Citizen for Village Recognition Do you know a senior citizen that deserves some recognition? Maybe a family member or neighbor that deserves a thank you? Nominate them for the 18th Annual Senior of the Year Awards!
Nominees and winners will be recognized at the Village's Senior Fair on October 4th, at the Madison Meadow Athletic Center. Nominees must have an incorporated Lombard home mailing address and be 65 years of age or older. Nominations must include a brief statement, 50 words or less, about why the nominee should be considered, as well as a short biography of the nominee.
All nominations must be received by 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2023, for consideration. The Community Relations Committee will vote for the winner on Monday, September 11, 2023. Nominees and winners will be notified and announced publicly.

Mark Your Calendar: Village to Host Sept 11 Remembrance Ceremony
The Village of Lombard invites residents and community members to attend its 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on September 11 at 9:00 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the Public Safety Plaza, outside of Village Hall on 255 E. Wilson Street. The purpose of the ceremony is to honor the memory of the nearly 3,000 lives lost during the terrorist attacks on September 11 in New York, Washington D.C. and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
“As we come together to remember the events of September 11, we stand united in our promise to never forget the sacrifices made and the lives lost on that day,” shared Lombard Fire Chief Rick Sander.

We Remember Blood Drive
The Village of Lombard is co-hosting two We Remember Blood Drive events on Tuesday, September 19th. In appreciation, all attempting donors will receive a commemorative 80th Anniversary t-shirt, while supplies last. Two locations to choose from! - YORKTOWN CENTER - In the Blood Drive Bus parked on the lower-level Mall Entrance outside of VonMaur from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

DuPage County will host four community forums in September for residents to provide feedback as the County works to update its strategic plan. The forum will provide an opportunity for residents to discuss their budgetary and community priorities for the new strategic plan, which will guide the County for the next five years.
