Lombard Police Offer Child Safety Seat Checks this Saturday, Sept. 16

The Lombard Police Department will be offering free car seat inspections and education to parents and caregivers on Saturday, September 16 at the Lombard Park District's Touch-A-Truck event from 10 a.m. to noon. Lombard Officers, certified as Car Seat Safety Technicians, will help parents ensure child car seats are installed correctly in their vehicles. The service is offered free of charge.

In Illinois, children must be restrained in an appropriate car or booster seat until age eight and in a rear-facing seat until age 2. NHTSA recommends that children stay restrained in their car seats until they outgrow the height and weight limit set by the seat's manufacturer. This often means keeping children in rear-facing seats beyond age two and boosters far beyond age eight.

Lombard's Generosity Shines Bright with Warhol-Themed Food Drive

The Village's Warhol-themed food drive to support the Outreach House has been a great success this summer! Thanks to the generous donations of our community and community partners, the Village was able to donate over 10 shopping carts full of food to assist those who need it most.

September is National Preparedness Month

September marks National Preparedness Month, the annual recognition to remind everyone in America how important it is for individuals, families, and communities to prepare for disasters and emergencies that can happen at any time.

The Village of Lombard encourages residents to join in observing National Preparedness Month. This year's theme is, "Take Control in 1, 2, 3," which focuses on preparing older adults for disasters, specifically older adults from communities that are disproportionally impacted by all-hazard events.

Health Department Raises West Nile Virus Risk Level to "High"

As a result of multiple confirmed human cases of WNV in DuPage County, the DuPage County Health Department has elevated the Personal Protection Index (PPI) from level 2 (moderate) to level 3 (high). Residents should take precautions like draining standing water around their homes, wearing insect repellent containing DEET, especially at peak times like dawn and dusk, and dressing in long sleeves and pants with closed-toe shoes to cover the skin. Yard spray cans from a local hardware store are suggested for temporary backyard treatment.
