Recreational Cannabis Update

Recreational Cannabis Update

At the Village Board Meeting on September 19, Lombard Trustees considered recommendations from the Plan Commission, regarding the topic of recreational cannabis dispensaries within the Village. The Board agreed with the Plan Commission’s recommendations to include the dispensaries as a permitted use in Districts I (Limited Industrial), B4A (Roosevelt Road), and O (Office), and as a conditional use (requires Plan Commission review and Village Board approval for individual locations) in Districts B1, B2, B3, B4 (neighbor and community retail).  The Board proposes that the use be listed as a conditional use in the B5 and B5A (downtown and downtown perimeter) zoning districts. See chart below.

Several residents provided their opinions and feedback about the topic during public comment and the video of the meeting is available at www.villageoflombard.org/recreationalcannabis. This was the Village’s first reading of the proposed regulations. The topic will be considered for second and final reading at the next Village Board of Trustees Meeting on Thursday, October 3 at 7 p.m., at Village Hall. All Village meetings are open to the public and provide an opportunity for public comment. If you would like to provide feedback on this topic, and cannot attend the Board of Trustees Meeting, please email recreationalcannabis@villageoflombard.org

These recommendations will return to the Village Board for consideration on September 19, 2019. For more information on this topic, visit villageoflombard.org/recreationalcannabis

Public Works Continues Hydrant Flushing Program

Lombard Public Works crews will be performing the annual fall fire hydrant maintenance beginning the week of September 9th, 2019.  Workers will visit more than 900+ hydrants over the course of a six-week period. Crews will be focusing efforts from Maple Street to Roosevelt Rd.

During hydrant maintenance each hydrant is thoroughly inspected, oiled, and port caps are greased to ensure proper operability. This process continues to ensure that fire hydrants can be operated by the Fire Department and Village repair crews in a time of need.
