There is Park District space at Madison Elementary School that would be a perfect spot to put another roller hockey rink for our community. The Park at Madison Meadows has been just fabulous to bring the community together and I think this would be very beneficial for our community on this side of town as well. To get the kids out of the house and play together looks so good for our community, keeps kids active and involved. The more activities outside we can do together the stronger our community is.

I think this idea would be great for a fall day next year in late September or early October. You can view online Chilympics for Downers Grove. It is a great one day event and you can either do sanctuation with International Chili Society and everyone cooks onsite or do unsancuationed and you bring your crock pot. It is a really good community event. You can hire a local band, serve hotdogs or have a restaurant serve additional food that day and get some bounce houses. Ryan and I have done many cook offs and I would be willing to help organize the event. Most event do a $20 registration fee and this helps to give out prizes to the People Choice Award, and the judging for 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Then you normally charge $5 to each person who would like to eat Chili and vote. You can give them wrist band to show they paid or do chips (example Red Chip (1) worth 5 points and Blue Chip (2) worth 3 points each. We also have a Facebook page of our other competitions under Sweet Heat.

I live on South Brewster ave and on our street we have this huge retention pond. When the weather is nice there is always people playing baseball or football or anything really, but in the winter time it just sits there. Its this big piece of land that is not being used and personally I think it would be really cool to turn it into a skating rink during the winter months. It can be open to the public for anyone who owns a pair of ice skates. It gives people of all ages something to do during the winter instead of staying inside all day. There can be special hours or days when people can even bring out some hockey sticks and pucks and play some hockey.

Good afternoon. When I moved to the Old Grove neighborhood in 2007 I signed up for Comcast Internet service. However, after reading about the 300GB data caps they're rolling out nationwide, I would like to switch to a different carrier. Unfortunately, the only other one worth considering is AT&T, who places a 250GB cap on residential Internet service. Are there any other broadband providers in the area that serve this neighborhood? If not, how could the Village attract additional providers to the area in order to provide residents with more choice? And, if that fails, would the Village of Lombard consider building a municipal broadband network for residents?

I think we should promote use of permeable products through a homeowners grant much as the rain barrel grant has done. Permeable products are available but often overlooked due to cost. Grants might provide enough initiative for homeowners to choose these products over more traditional one that often contribute to the chronic flooding and pollution issues. Many of these products could be used for driveways, walkways and patios. I'd also like to see these products used in future community projects.

I have lived in Lombard for 5 years now and I am extremely disappointed that Comcast had a monopoly on cable Internet in this town. I have nothing but terrible experiences with them. My Internet goes out frequently and even when we have service it is intermittently disconnected. Lombard needs to lead the way and push for getting either other cable providers or fiber optic. My place is going up for sale this year and one big reason for me leaving Lombard is the lack of ISP providers. Your residents are being taken advantage of big time!

I was speaking to a friend from downtown about Craigslist and he said that the Police and Community have set up Safe Zones to transact sales safely. It's sometimes hard to set up a meeting place that is public and Safe versus giving buyers your home address. I thought if the Police Department or one of the Community buildings out of the rain had some space set aside that people can meet in a Safe Zone. Many of my friends are leary of Craigslist because they don't want to give out too much info.

Would the left turn light on Northbound Highland Avenue onto Butterfield ever be considered to be extended by approximately four seconds? For as long as I can remember the left arrow onto Butterfield going west from Highland Avenue (NB) stays Green for only several seconds for two to three cars to pass through the intersection. It may impact the flow of traffic coming southbound on Highland, but I always see people going through the red left turn light because they catch two red lights only dozens of yards from each other. Any extension in the time the left turn signal stays Green onto aButterfield would be Greatly Appreciated. I recently started commuting to the area and remember for the longest time this light being like this. Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions regarding this inquiry at iambormk@gmail.com

Being a local artist who follows many artists in the Chicagoland area, I've noticed a trend that many nearby towns/villages are doing to combat vacant storefronts and economically hit downtown areas. Towns are commissioning local artists or local galleries to fill vacant storefronts and building with murals and artwork. This detracts from the eye sore of looking at so many empty spaces in the downtown/Main St. area, and also gives local artists/youth groups a platform to encourage and promote expression in their community. I myself would be interested in taking on such a project, as I'm sure local galleries would be as a way to promote other artists. It seems like a WIN-WIN scenario because it shows the village cares about the arts and beautifies the down town.

The timers around Lombard down the main roads including Roosevelt, Main, Butterfield, and the railroad crossing at Grace and St. Charles Rd. should be on a "Green Wave" system. I personally avoid Roosevelt Rd due to this issue. This is not good for the many businesses that are on this stretch of road. If I am doing it I am sure others are as well. As Lombard continues to grow, the infrastructure needs of the village need to grow with it. As a resident, I am strongly considering moving out of the neighborhood because of the transportation issues around the village.

It's very DARK in the early morning 7 after 6 pm. lots of College students as well as mall workers and local business employees catch the bus there. Pace runs 7 different routes at this one small bus stop with hardly any cover or lighting. It needs help bad. There has been times a child almost got hit by the bus because of the lack of attention the bus stop gets. I called Pace about the stop a number of times as well informed the mall about it. 2 years later still nothing but a Dark and rundown dangerous bus stop. Please do something about it.ASAP

It becomes very dangerous to take left turns especially during rush hour times. It also backs up traffic when some people need to make a right turn instead.
