The Community Development Department fields concerns such as: private drainage issues, building construction, permits, elevator concerns, property maintenance, and code enforcement.If the concern involves an immediate health or safety hazard, please call 911.
The Building Division is responsible for the various phases of building construction within the Village of Lombard. They are responsible for concerns related to permits, construction sites, elevators, special events, or accessibility.
The Code Administration Division provides for activities associated with enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance, Sign Ordinance, applicable sections of the Municipal Code, and the Property Maintenance Code. Examples are liter, grass/weeds over 8", inactive vehicles, and fences or buildings in disrepair.
The Private Engineering Services Division provides engineering services associated with all private development. Private Engineering Services helps with “private property” flooding issues. Please direct “public property” flooding concerns to Public Works.
Please note: Situations that require police action need to be reported by dialing 9-1-1 at the time of the offense so an officer may be dispatched to the scene at the time of occurrence. 911 is available to residents whenever they do not feel safe, or believe they could be witnessing or experiencing a potentially unsafe situation. Residents should not wait until they are involved in a dangerous situation before contacting police.
Some examples of when to dial 911 include, but are not limited to:
• Medical emergencies, including heart attack or stroke, or an unresponsive person.
• House fire
• Domestic violence
• Burglary or theft in progress
• Car accident with life- threatening injuries
• Suspicious activities
• Concern for dogs locked in potentially hot cars
• Aggressive solicitors
• Anything else that seems like an emergency
The Public Works Department responds to urgent situations, such as water main breaks or sewer back ups, at all times. If you are reporting such a situation, please call Public Works at (630) 620-5740. If it is after normal working hours (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday) call the Police Department non-emergency line (630) 873-4400 and they will contact the appropriate personnel.
