Region 8 – Including Lombard – Surpasses 8% Threshold
 
Data from October 16, shows that Region 8 has surpassed the Illinois Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 threshold of 8% positivity rate, for two consecutive days. 

If COVID-19 positivity rates pass 8% or above for 3 consecutive days, heightened mitigation measures will be put into place for Region 8, including Lombard.

 

Currently, Region 5 (southern Illinois) and Region 1 (Rockford/NW Illinois) have met the resurgence criteria, resulting in heightened Tier 1 mitigation measures. At a press conference on October 19th, Governor Pritzker warned that, “Region 8 could join Region 5 in heightened mitigations as soon as tomorrow.” Region 8 currently reports 8.5% positivity rates for two consecutive days, with 10 days of positivity increases, and 5 days of hospital admission increases.

Mitigation Measures to Impact Regions that Surpass Threshold
 
Should Region 8 experience 3 consecutive days of COVID-19 positivity rates at 8% or higher, Tier 1 mitigation measures will be implemented by the Illinois Department of Public Health. According to the IDPH, these mitigation efforts will include:

Bars 

  • No indoor service
  • All outside bar service closes at 11 p.m.
  • All bar patrons should be seated at tables outside
  • No ordering, seating, or congregating at bar (bar stools should be removed)
  • Tables should be 6 feet apart  
  • No standing or congregating indoors or outdoors while waiting for a table or exiting
  • No dancing or standing indoors
  • Reservations required for each party
  • No seating of multiple parties at one table

Restaurants 

  • No indoor dining or bar service
  • All outdoor dining closes at 11 p.m.
  • Outside dining tables should be 6 feet apart
  • No standing or congregating indoors or outdoors while waiting for a table or exiting
  • Reservations required for each party  
  • No seating of multiple parties at one table

Meetings, Social Events, Gatherings 

  • Limit to lesser of 25 guests or 25% of overall room capacity
  • No party buses
  • Gaming and casinos close at 11 p.m., are limited to 25 percent capacity, and follow mitigations for bars and restaurants, if applicable

Help Keep Lombard Open: Take Action Against the Spread of Illness
 
The Village is urging residents to follow safety protocols set forth by the CDC to help slow the spread of COVID-19. While some people may only experience mild symptoms, it is important to help protect all citizens including health care workers and first responders.

Help support your local businesses by acting responsibly. Below are safety reminders that can help slow the spread of illness. 

  • Maintain a 6 feet social distance minimum.
  • Wear a face mask when in public. 
  • Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Clean and sanitize commonly used surfaces.
  • Quarantine for 14 days if returning from a COVID-19 hotspot. 
  • Avoid group gatherings.
  • Stay home when you are sick or experiencing symptoms of respiratory illness with fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.

  • Avoid contact with others that are sick or experiencing COVID-19 like symptoms.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

The DuPage County Health Department COVID-19 dashboard, shows the number of lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in each municipality. As of Monday, October 19, 2020, there have been a total of 1,015 confirmed cases in Lombard. https://www.dupagehealth.org/610/DuPage-County-COVID-19-Dashboard
