News Item Village Logo

At last night’s Village Board Meeting, Village Staff and Trustees discussed 12 current vacancies on Lombard’s volunteer boards, committees, and commissions, and the Village’s efforts in seeking applications from qualified candidates.

The Village is encouraging Lombard residents interested in volunteering to serve their community, and who have experience related to committee vacancies, to apply. Current vacancies include:

  • (3) Community Promotions & Tourism Committee,
  • (2) Community Relations Committee,
  • (1) Public Safety & Transportation,
  • (1) Public Works & Environmental Concerns Committee,
  • (1) Board of Local Improvements,
  • (2) Plan Commission, and
  • (2) Zoning Board of Appeals.

“One of the things that makes our Board so successful is our relationships with committees, which consist of resident volunteers,” said Village President Keith Giagnorio. “These committees have a voice and they’re so important to what we do. I encourage anyone considering getting involved to apply.”

Seated terms range between two and five years, and members of standing advisory committees must be Village residents. While there are no minimum professional requirements to serve, individuals with experience in the committee’s subject area are encouraged to apply. The Village will continue to actively share information regarding the opportunity to serve, in efforts to help ensure that committee vacancies are filled.

Information about Lombard’s volunteer committees and a link to the application form are available on the Village’s website at or by searching “committees.” If you are interested in serving, please fill out and submit an application form.  If you have previously submitted an application, have an application on file, and wish to be considered for any of the current vacancies above, please submit a new application.
