On Monday, November 15, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Lombard Fire Department responded to the reported structure fire in the 2100 Block of South Finley at the Martin’s Point Apartment Homes.
The fire was discovered by an apartment resident who called 911 to report it. The first arriving fire crews found flames showing out of a second-floor window of the apartment. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes of the Fire Department’s arrival.
According to Battalion Chief Doug Cail, all of the residents were able to exit the apartment safely. However, there was significant damage throughout the apartment as well as water damage to the apartment below. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters reported.
The Lombard Fire Department was assisted by the Villa Park, Elmhurst, and Oak Brook Fire Departments as well the York Center and Oakbrook Terrace Fire Protection Districts. The Lombard Police Department assisted with crowd and traffic control.
The fire caused approximately $100,000 in damage and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Lombard Fire Investigation Unit.
