The Village of Lombard will hold its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 29, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Sunken Garden in Common Park (just east of the Grace St. and Maple St. intersection). All community members are invited to help honor the men and women who served in our country’s military as well as those who gave their lives for our freedoms.
Attendees and nearby residents are reminded that the ceremony will include a cannon fire and a controlled gun salute. Please be advised that these commemorative activities may produce loud noises.
Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lilac Post #5815, American Legion Lombard Post #391, Lombard Park District, Lombard Historical Society, Stanford’s Battery Civil War Cannon, Lombard Junior Women’s Club, Glenbard East High School, Brust Funeral Home, local scouts, and residents will be participating in the ceremony.
Following the ceremony, all attendees are strongly encouraged to visit with veterans. Refreshments will be provided by volunteers from the Lombard Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association.
Due to limited parking and seating, attendees are encouraged to walk to the ceremony and bring a lawn chair, if possible. Additional parking will be available at Berean Bible Students Church (535 E. Maple St).
In the event of severe weather, the Village’s Memorial Day Ceremony will be moved indoors to Lombard Village Hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave, and updates will be posted at www.villageoflombard.org, as well as the Village’s social media pages.
If you have questions, please contact Communications Coordinator Stephanie Calvillo at (630) 620-5718.
