The ongoing drought conditions have raised concerns over the heightened risk of fires in our area. Lombard Bureau Chief Perry Johnson warns that the combination of dry lawns and parched plants has created ideal conditions for unexpected fires.
“With the increased temperatures, the lack of water, the environment is becoming prone or a perfect setting for grass fires,” said Bureau Chief Perry Johnson.
Although there are no bans on recreational fires in Lombard, fire officials are urging residents to exercise extreme caution when using fire pits or engaging in recreational fires. Chief Johnson emphasizes the need for diligence, given the dry grass and lack of water, as the risk continues to escalate without rain in the forecast.
If possible, please refrain from recreational fires during this dry spell to minimize the chances of fire incidents.
